I presented my Neuro-English Language Teaching Inspired Language Activities for Grade School for the second time.

Most of the audience came from the private and public elementary schools of Bacolod and Manila. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had as a lecturer/presenter, because Dr. Robert Murphy, one of the pioneers of FAB (First Annual Brain Day), chose to sit in to listen to my workshop.

FAB 9 International Conference on
Neuroscience, ELT, and Education
Best Western Sand Bar Hotel,
Cordova Mactan, Cebu
August 26-28, 2016

This was the first time I presented in an international conference. A year before this event, I got a TESOL certification from TESOL Asia and International TESOL Consultancy Corporation. This was when I have learned about Neuroscience in English language teaching. Eventually, I have applied my learning through an action research addressing the challenge of a teacher in teaching energetic children English as a second language. Beside me in the first photo on the left is Dr. Marc Helgesen. He is one of my mentors and inspirations in using brain-friendly activities in class. He is one of the pioneers of Science of Happiness in English language Teaching and currently teaching in Miyagi University, Japan.

Abstract:
This collection of Neuro-ELT Inspired Language Activities for Grade School aimed to create a fun and engaging classroom by allowing the learners to use positive emotions in learning the English language. Seligman (2002) emphasized how positive psychology  can bring out optimal human functioning. Focusing on mental health, it aims to know what happy people usually do. Upon learning that humans function best when they are happy, educators begin to explore on how this idea can be integrated to teaching the English language. Through incorporating the concepts of Neuro-ELT, these language activities hope to strengthen the teacher approach in language teaching.
